Meet Karla
I'm Karla Kolb, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the owner of Therapy with Karla. I work with adults (18+) living in Virginia and Washington, D.C., offering virtual telehealth appointments.
I earned my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from James Madison University. My experience includes working with a diverse range of clients in various settings, including inpatient and community mental health. I'm especially passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety, life transitions, bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, people pleasing, trauma, and self-esteem. I also have a specific interest in the impact of early childhood experiences and attachment wounds. Together, we can work to untangle old patterns, heal past hurts, and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.
In my practice, my approach is built on genuine empathy, unconditional acceptance, and authenticity. Recognizing the unique needs of each person, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, attachment-based, and mindfulness-based approaches. I believe in a culturally sensitive approach to therapy and that your unique experiences are central to our work. My practice is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves compassionate and affirming care and my goal is to create a welcoming space for all clients.
Whether you're looking for a safe space to process life stressors, hoping to deepen your understanding of yourself, or needing tools to manage what you're experiencing, I can help. If you're looking for an online therapist in Virginia or D.C. and think we might be a good fit, please reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
